District Governor 2008-2009

Cam Yorkston

Cam is a partner in the consulting firm  Yorkston Consulting, which provides a wide range of consulting services for non-profit organizations including; fundraising, communications, board development and governance, and strategic planning. Prior to this, Cam served The Tatnall School as Assistant Headmaster for Advancement and Director of Development for a total of 18 years.

Cam became a member of the Rotary Club of Wilmington in 1986. He has chaired the Chaplain’s Committee and Scholarship Committee and has served on the History Committee, the Program Committee, the Fellowship Committee, the Rotary Foundation Committee, and as a club board member. He was district Secretary during Cliff Embley’s and Nardy Ableman’s terms as District governor. He has been a guest speaker at several District Conferences. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and a recipient of the Rotary District 7630 Service Award.

Cam is a native of Wilmington and a graduate of The Tatnall School and the University of Delaware. He holds Masters degrees in Divinity and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. He was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in 1975.

 

District Governor Elect 2009-2010

Susan Giove

Susan was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Queens.  Her nursing career began at Hunter College nurse at NYU Medical Center & earned a Master of Arts  in Nurse Education at NYU.  Susan spent 3 years at Teachers College, Columbia University in an accelerated doctoral program with a Doctorate in Education conferred on her in 1993 . She obtained a Post -Graduate Certificate as Adult Nurse Practitioner at Adelphi University.  

 Susan has held  several managerial positions in the Rehoboth Beach area including Assistant Manager at Ristorante Zebra for 9 years. In November 2006, she received her license as a Realtor and is a sales agent with Century 21 Maggio/Shields in Rehoboth Beach and is an active member of the National Association of Realtors and the Delaware Association of Realtors..

Joining Rotary in May of 1988, Susan became the Bronx Rotary Club’s first female President in 1994-1995 and became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1995. She founded the Adopt -A -School program which served as both Vocational & Community Service to an elementary school in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. She was awarded several citations and Proclamations for her work with the Adopt-A School program and for the Community Health Fairs she implemented for Senior Citizens and elementary  school - aged children in high risk communities. She also served on the District Conference Committee and as a Host - Mentor for an Ambassadorial Scholar from Munich, Germany. Because of the Rotary Community programs, Susan was selected to serve as a member of Mayor Ed Koch’s Anti Drug Task Force in 1990.  She also served on the Bronx District Attorney’s Committee for Drug awareness and Drug Education for grammar & high school aged students.

 Ten years later, as a Charter Member of the Rehoboth Beach/Lewes Sunrise club, she became the Centennial President.    Susan was instrumental in her club’s obtaining a District Simplified Grants  for the luggage program for the foster children in Sussex County and the Spanish/English Dictionaries for all Sussex County’s English as Second Language (ESL) programs,  3rd grade to adult.   

Susan served a Chair for the District 7630’s First Indoor Golf Outing which raised close to $7000 for the purchase of External Defibrillators donated to Easter Seals.  Susan  participated in the initial planning and worked with the  committee for The Friendship Exchange with Sweden.  She attended and graduated from The Rotary Leadership Institute in March 2005 and currently serves as a facilitator.  

 Susan continues to contribute to the Rotary Foundation and is a sustaining member.

District Governor Elect 2010-2011

Don Hackett

Don began his Rotary experience as a Group Study Exchange team member to South Africa in 1995. Following the exchange to South Africa, he coordinated with local Rotary clubs an exchange that enabled 2 professionals from South Africa that were both non-ambulatory to experience a 2 week vocational awareness in Maryland. He continues to serve actively on the GSE program and has served as an Area 6 chair.

He has served as executive director of Dove Pointe, a human service organization providing educational, vocational and residential services to children and adults with disabilities on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for 35 years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md. and his Master of Education from Salisbury University, Salisbury, Md. He has completed graduate work certificating him in public school administration, supervision and superintendent. He is the recipient of the North Dorchester Chamber of Commerce Citizenship Award, the Wicomico ARC Professional of the Year Award, the Cambridge Jaycees Outstanding Educator Award and past president of the Dorchester Educators and the Maryland Association of Community Service providers.

During his term as President of the Rotary Club of Wicomico County, the club received the Presidential Citation Award for 2005-2006. He has served as club secretary, assistant secretary and president-elect.

Don is active in his local church as a trustee and as church superintendent. He is married and the father of three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and 4 grandsons.
